Andrew Captain | Corporate financing and restructuring

Prior to joining the firm, Andrew served as Managing Director of the Merchant Banking Group at Bank of New York. Previously, he served as Managing Director, Shareholder and Head of Corporate Finance at Fieldstone, Inc. Previously, he served as Managing Director at Bankers Trust Company within the bank’s M&A teams in New York and New York. London. Earlier in his career, Andrew was the founder and general partner of Art Deco Hotels, Ltd., which restored and operated seven hotel properties that pioneered the revival of Miami Beach’s Art Deco District, economic consultant to of the Republic of Chile, Ministry of Finance and Registered Representative at Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Andrew specializes in executing mergers and acquisitions, exclusive sales and divestitures, private placements, equity opinions, government privatizations, restructurings and recapitalization transactions. He has completed over 80 M&A and capital markets transactions and over 200 equity and credit opinions in the United States, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, he has acted as an expert witness in several disputes relating to mergers and acquisitions of public companies, fairness opinions and corporate governance.

Andrew has conducted equity and solvency opinion engagements for a variety of clients. Notable clients include: Alcoa Inc., International Paper Company, ITT Corp., Simon Property Group, Inc. and T-Mobile US Inc. He has also advised portfolio companies of leading private equity firms. Some notable clients include: Apollo Global Management, The Carlyle Group, Centerbridge Partners, LP, Clayton Dubilier & Rice, LLC, Investindustrial, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., New Mountain Capital LLC., Oaktree Capital Management, LP, and Onex Corporation.

Andrew received his master’s degree, with honors, from the University of Miami School of Business and Economics. He also holds a BA, cum laude, from Yale University. He was founding director and served as president of the Miami Design Preservation League and board member and co-chairman of the Manitoga/Russel Wright Design Center. It holds FINRA series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.
