APS Department of Finance – Albuquerque Public Schools
The first award received by the APS Finance Department was a Certificate of International Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials for the fiscal year ending June 2019. This award represents a significant achievement and reflects their commitment to transparency and quality financial reporting. Applicants submit their financial report for review by a team of finance professionals. A district’s participation in the Certificate of Excellence program can facilitate bond scoring and further bond disclosure processes.
The Department of Finance was also awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for the fiscal year ending June 2020. The report was judged by an impartial panel who determined that it met the high standards, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial history and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, and earning it represents a significant achievement.
