PSE organizes its 2nd Investor Relations Day of the year
The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. announced on Tuesday that it is preparing to hold the second edition of its investor relations activity, which hopes to connect the general public with listed companies, especially those who do not hold briefings on its financial reports.
“The success of the very first PSE STAR: Investor Day confirmed our objectives of providing a communication platform for ATMs (listed companies). We are once again hosting Investor Day to give other PLCs the opportunity to share their growth stories and interface with analysts and investors,” said PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon.
The second PSE STAR or short for Strengthening Access and Reach Investor Day will run from August 16-18. It will feature a new set of publicly traded companies discussing their first-half financial results, factors affecting their business performance and their outlook for the remainder of the year.
Monzon said earlier that corporate briefings could be a common communication platform for companies listed in other countries, but it’s still not a very common activity among companies listed in the Philippines.
During the 2021 reporting season in April, for example, less than a third of the PSE’s 259 active listed companies held a company briefing to discuss their results for the year 2021, the PSE said.
“We hope this Investor Day activity will encourage more companies to hold regular presentations to analysts and investors. The PES plans to hold an investor briefing for listed companies every quarter from now on,” Monzon said at the first PES Investor Day in May.
“Information is an integral part of a well-informed market. As companies issue news and press releases, addressing investors in a briefing like this presents a unique opportunity for companies and their existing and potential shareholders to interface, even in a virtual setup. With increased awareness on prospects and plans, we hope to increase analyst coverage on our second-tier listed companies. We also hope to boost investor confidence, which in turn will support demand for shares of these companies,” he said.
The PSE said companies joining the investor day include Bank of Commerce, Bloomberry Resorts Corp., Cebu Air Inc., Citicore Energy REIT Corp., DM Wenceslao and Associates Inc., D and L Industries Inc., Double Dragon Corp., Manila Water Co. Inc., MREIT Inc., Petron Corp., Philex Mining Corp., Philippine Seven Corp., Semirara Mining and Power Corp., Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. and Union Bank of the Philippines.
The second PES Investor Day is co-hosted by Bloomberg LP with the Fund Managers Association of the Philippines and the Trust Officers Association of the Philippines as event partners.
The event is open to company shareholders, buy and sell side analysts and the general investing public.
