Finance Department releases Rs. 71 Crore for Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences: Harpal Singh Cheema
CHANDIGAR: The Minister of Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation said on Monday that the Ministry of Finance has released Rs. 71 crores for the State Institute of Medical Sciences of Sant Baba Attar Singh, Mastuana Sahib , Sangrur, to ensure that work on this ambitious project is completed on time.
In a press statement issued here, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has pledged to complete the work of this medical college by March 31, 2023. He said the Ministry of Finance has also given approval for 1020 positions for this institute and this academic session would start from April 1 next year. He said this college with MBBS seats will become a hub for medical education across the region.
Giving a brief account of the grants awarded for this upcoming medical school, Cheema said that an amount of Rs. 21.19 was released for the extension of the existing civil hospital in Sangrur and the construction of an additional floor in the civil hospital.
It is worth mentioning here that the Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Mastuana Sahib spans an area of 25 acres with an estimated cost of almost Rs.345.00 crores. Sangrur Civil Hospital will also be attached to the Faculty of Medicine.
