Hutcheon Mearns Expands Corporate Finance and M&A Team to Support Growth

FINANCE advisory specialists Hutcheon Mearns has enhanced its corporate finance offering with the appointment of two new senior team members and the promotion of another after a period of significant growth.

Hutcheon Mearns has advised or supported transactions worth over £400m in the past 12 months.

He promoted Naill Benzahia in recognition of his contribution to this success. Additionally, Matthew Graham and Craig Lyon have recently joined the firm to strengthen the firm’s corporate finance team.

Chartered Accountant Naill Benzahia has been promoted from Corporate Finance Manager to Corporate Finance Associate Director, drawing on significant experience with listed and private equity-backed energy companies. Naill has been a key member of the corporate advisory team since its inception, supporting transactions in the UK, Europe, Australia, South America and the Far East.

Chartered accountant Matthew Graham joins the firm with considerable experience in corporate finance and investment banking – primarily with Piper Sandler – having advised corporate owners and senior private equity firms on mergers , acquisitions, divestitures and fundraising. During his career, he has completed over 40 successful global M&A transactions worth over £3 billion.

Craig Lyon will lead Hutcheon Mearns’ financial due diligence offering, where the company will provide buyers with a hands-on, value-focused assessment of acquisitions; and sellers with in-depth preparation for disposal processes. Craig is a qualified accountant with over 25 years of experience in a wide range of finance roles, with the core of his career being over 15 years of performing M&A and advisory engagements while serving as Managing Director of investment bank Simmons & Company International. .

The newly expanded advisory team will help Hutcheon Mearns clients drive growth through strategic advice, planning and transaction expertise, backed by decades of experience.

The appointments are part of a landmark year for Hutcheon Mearns, where the Aberdeen-based organization opened offices in Edinburgh and Norwich and celebrated its first year in business in Dundee.
