The City of St. Cloud received a pair of financial awards in April from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
First, it was announced this week that he was the recipient of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The announcement comes just weeks after the GFOA announced that St. Cloud had received its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.
“Taken individually, each of these awards speaks to the professionalism of the City’s finance department,” said City Manager Bill Sturgeon. “Taken together, this speaks volumes about the caliber of people we have here to help oversee and manage the City’s budget. I am very proud of this team and the hard work they put in to ensure transparency, accuracy and accountability.
To earn the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the City had to be deemed “competent” in four categories: a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. The GFOA says the award “represents a significant achievement of the entity. This reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to the highest principles of government budgeting.
St. Cloud’s finance department is led by Director Wendy Collazo and Assistant Director Jeff Cooper, who lead a team of 13 staff.
