The finance department of the town of Tiffin will be renovated
Tiffin, Ohio— From the end of May, the Town of Tiffin Finance Department will be closed for renovations to the Town Hall Annex. The closure has been postponed until May to avoid interfering with the deadline for filing tax returns and is expected to last until September.
During construction, finance department staff will continue to work out of various offices at City Hall, 51 E. Market St. Sewer revenue department staff will be located on the first floor. A drive-through drop box is being set up outside City Hall to leave documents safe, and residents are encouraged to use the electronic file and online payment system at www. tiffinohio.gov to facilitate payments.
The exterior of the building will be slightly expanded, bringing the front of the building flush rather than its current configuration with a vestibule inset, and providing additional space inside for public and private spaces in the office. Additionally, updates from outside will increase ADA compliance.
The improvements to the exterior were approved on March 15 by the Tiffin Town Architectural Review Board.
In addition to reconfiguring the office’s public and private spaces, interior updates include a conference room, an office for the tax commissioner, and other modifications aimed at improving workflow and efficiency and conserving confidential files more securely. The last major renovation of the department dates back to the early 1990s.
“This update is ultimately done to make the department more efficient and better equipped to help the public,” said Chief Financial Officer Kathleen Kaufman. “It is important that we provide private spaces for confidential documents and discussions to take place, while maintaining a welcoming environment for residents.”
Mayor of Tiffin Aaron Montz said, “These improvements to the finance department are long overdue and I thank Finance Director Kaufman and her staff for being flexible during this time to continue to better serve citizens of Tiffin.
Staff will continue to be accessible by phone and email during construction. For more information during the transition, residents should direct questions to Nick Dutro, Director of Communications and Voter Services, at (419) 448-5401.
